Schick Gold Medalist Flexamatic Electric Shaver - Mark Spitz Edition, 1973 Boxed

This is a very hard-to-find and unusual item from 1973 or 1974. It is the Schick Gold Medalist Flexamatic electric shaver and it is the Mark Spitz edition. Spitz was a famous Olympic gold medalist swimmer. This set was probably a very expensive item in '74. The display box is of very high quality with the Gold Medalist logo in red, white, and blue. It has a leather-type inner box with a built-in mirror. The shaver itself also has the same leather-type coating and is in excellent condition. I cannot tell if the shaver has been used or not; it is very clean, even the blades are extremely clean. The power cord is supplied. The inner leather case is also in excellent condition.
It comes with all the original paperwork:
- an order blank for new razor heads and screens with a dollar off coupon that expires on June 1974 (suggesting that this shaver was most likely from 1973, but possibly could be from 1974),
- a 2-year warranty card with the image of Mark Spitz,
- a free check-up coupon, and
- an original full-color manual booklet with 12 pages
The box measures 6" x 7" x 2.75". Overall condition is excellent. I have seen a few of these shavers but I have never seen one boxed that is in such amazing condition. I'd guess that this was a very limited item item and probably not many sold as they look quite expensive.
